Tailored Trustee Training Services
We provide trustee training for all types of pension-scheme trustees.
The Social Welfare & Pension Act 2008 introduced a requirement for all pension-scheme trustees to complete trustee training. This requirement came into effect on 1st February 2010.
What exactly are the requirements?
- Employers must arrange trustee training for each trustee within six months of their appointment and, after that, at least every two years. Where a person was already at the time the legislation came in to effect, the ongoing two-year training requirement applies (but the trustee does not have to undertake training within 6 months).
- If the employer company is appointed as trustees, all the members of the board must be trained.
- Where an employer breaches the obligation to provide regular training, it may be prosecuted.
What is Trustee Training?
All trustees must receive appropriate training concerning:
- the Pensions Act
- the duties and responsibilities of trustees generally
- any other matters relevant to the effective management of the scheme.
